Mission

Organizational Overview
The MBA Student Government Association (SGA) exists to serve the student body and enhance the student experience at Georgetown University. In this capacity, the SGA acts as the primary interface between the student body and the faculty and administration. The SGA is more than just a student advocate, however. The Student Association also works to manage student clubs, enhance career services, improve technology resources, organize community service projects, plan social events, and boost alumni relations in the Washington, D.C. area. In short, the Student Association seeks to make your time at the McDonough School of Business as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.
The Student Government Association is governed by the Executive Committee, which is comprised of the President, the Vice President of Operations, 11 functional Vice Presidents, and four Cohort Representatives.
The Executive Committee is ultimately responsible for major SGA decisions, management of SGA finances, and implementation of new and existing SGA policies or initiatives. The Executive Officers are elected in November by the entire student population and take office for the entirety of the following calendar year.
The SGA strives to uphold the four cornerstones of a Georgetown MBA education: a community of achievement, principled leadership, a global mindset, and life at the center of politics. Some of the highlights of SGA’s efforts to uphold these traditions include: an annual International Festival, weekly mixers, monthly club president meetings, quarterly faculty appreciation receptions, career and admissions focus groups, the annual McDonough Cup competition, and the fall and spring formals.
In addition to the Executive Officers, Cohort Representatives play an important role in improving the quality of life for First Year students at Georgetown. Cohort Representatives are responsible for the leadership of their respective cohorts and for representing the cohort in various administrative settings. Cohort Representatives are elected in early fall by the First Year students.
